Steve, you said "...the patient's brain (when it was directly visualized and perfused well)...".

As the total layman, I could be missing something, but from CI's report I see only that fluid from burr holes is measured for a refractive index of the perfused solution. This may be sufficient to satisfy a standard for adequate perfusion of the solution, but does it really say anything about the state of the tissue that has been perfused? Or is it, do you think, that if significant damage was indeed done by excessively high pressure from the ATP, then adequate solution would not have made it to the brain tissues?
