End-of-life planning is a defined area-- should be an element of cryonics & vice versa.

Cryonics is as much about death as it is about life. You wouldn't know that by reading any of the cryonics media out there today. There is a pervasive cultish look and feel to cryonics that ignores hard core reality in favor of what "they" think is "feel good" type material. I don't feel good about that. I indulge frequently in deathist thinking-- because it offers a reference point that triangulates the counterpoint of cryonics so that my new snythesis, in true Hegelian style-- which is kind of useful because it works-- creates a world view that seems to me to be more flavorful and powerful. Death is not just something to be overcome in cryonics-- death is what we might be facing in cryonics-- regardless of how well we vitrify our cryonauts. The prospect of immortality-- is really the prospect of MORtality.... Think about THAT. As the Redneck Comedian jeff foxworthy might have said "If you find yer head frozen in liquid nitrogen without a body in the year 3000 A.D.... you jiiiiis might be dead!".

Or... 'if you're a CI member? .... and you signed on with SA Inc.... through CI?...... and if you git yerself in medical trouble and the sheet metal fabricator is at yer bedside?.... as yer goin' down?--- I'm thinkin... you... jis... might be dead!". Ha ha.

So cryonics in my view is very much associated with death. The Alcor Death Management Foundation would be just as appropriate a name as the mis-leading "life extension" descriptor. Death is all around us. In cryonics, we worry about death all the time. Death is more accurately thought of as death-death. This euphemism for truly dead with no physical structure-- is neccessary to distinguish death from hypothermic vitrification where intact structure might be reanimatable. (If you find yersefl vitrified within a few minutes of legal death?... yu jis might be recoverable!".

In light of the concern with death, every cryoneer-- one who supports the politics and finance of people choosing cryonics for themselves rather than imposing it on others-- despite their so-called "consent"-- which is really a pretty weak form of "choice"-- I want to explore end-of-life planning here in Frozen Files... see "end of life planning" in my index below.

More soon.

Points later--

1. Cryonics is "in addition" to dying as opposed to "instead of dying".
2. Steve Bridge's Alcor headliner talk should be carefully framed-- he'll try to assert that Wrong Path idea-- pretending that it should have been about emergency medicine all along rather than transhumanism. It's an odd mix-- and I don't consider it valid becaues transhumansim is, in fact, a valid point of reference... and cryonics as emergency medicine is the wrong path as well-- it's NOT emergeency medicine-- like Wowk is pushing-- It's LIKE emergency medicine-- but isn't-- it's end-of-life death management!-- HIGH TECH DEATH MANAGEMENT.
3. The potential hopelessness of cryonics-- is a selling point-- not a disadvantage at all. Facing death and non-existence is a highly attractive element of life and truth... almost a joyful and emotionally releasing experience that offers persective. Then, cryonics on TOP of that in addition to that-- not opposed to that-- becomes the foot in the door. Kent's door into summer-- original SA name-- is NOT a door into summer-- at all-- it's a FOOT in the door. That's all. True hope revolves around true perspective. Nobody in cryonics today is writing about THIS truthful perspective. Other than me right now.
