Geographic proximity to cryonics labs is important.

The latest move by Alcor to establish a standby fund is interesting to me because it became the priority OVER and ABOVE the establishment of a cryonics hotel of some sort. I've always considered geographic proximity to a cyronics lab important. Lately I've been wondering why Tom Donaldson moved back to Austrailia before he deanimated. That seems counter-thetical to what an Alcor member ought to do. Riskin's wife, too, was in CA rather than AZ despite going down. Many cases where we see the opportunity for close approximation to a lab don't bear out-- defying what I think would be the case. C81, for instance, COULD have moved down to Florida before being taken off the respirator. That way, he would have been local with respect to SA. What are the hinderances of geographical approximation? Note that Saul Kent even took his mother INTO the Alcor facility-- which demonstrated poor judgement-- but the point was that he understood geogrphic approximation. The entire SA Inc facility might be nothing more than Bill Faloons's geographic proximity lab-- with Saul's proximity lab being ensconsed in the facilities associated with CCR and SA. Who would the "team members" be in a case like that? Ettinger might have built CI with proximity to his own residence in mind. Ceratinly Miller and Laughlin must have their own teams-- which places them in proximity of a cryonics team. Pizer's location 50 mi north of Alcor is questionable but then he has talked about having a helicopter pad-- and Alcor is near an airport... so he has a kind of proximity not many cryos have. The lack of attention to proximity to labs is one of the most baffling aspects of real world cryonics I've seen.
