SA Inc problem analysis-- How I look at it.

The first point that comes to my mind in considering the SA fiasco is the oxygen delivery to a legally dead cryonics patient. That point got lost in all the other stuff that's been considered-- and I still think it's very interesting. So I would start there-- reviewing Maxim and Harris in CF to find clues -- not only to answers but clues to the right questions.

And what are the right questions?

I think that the original question of what SA's purpose is-- to start with-- remains unanswered. The very existence of the entity of SA Inc-- is an oddity. This issue shouldn't be forgotten as more technical questions are raised. What has happened here is that-- essentially-- two of Alcor's members have gone off on their own-- to try to create a "national cryonics rescue service" separate from Alcor's.

The fundamental question remains. Why? If Alcor's service isn't up to their wished for standard, then as Alcor members, one of whom is a sitting board member of Alcor, why not put money toward improvement of Alcor's CRS? (cryonics rescue service). All the other Alcor members support Alcor's CRS. And yet these two particular members-- of particularly significant commitment to cryonics and of significant financial success-- refuse. How did that come to pass?

FD speculated in Computerized Perfusion in CF today that Saul Kent might have a special arrangement with a particular perfusionist. This is more evidence that Kent is not a "team player" in terms of cryonics or even Alcor. But it's not just Kent who fails to address common cryonicists concerns-- and who who attempts to take care of himself-- at the expense of other cryonicists. It's most of the high net worth cryonicists.

Ettinger was wrong about wealthier people not being interested in cryonics-- in previous years. There ARE people of high net worth who are interested in cryonics-- but their interest in net worth is higher than their interest in the common interests of cryonicists. It's as if the accumulation of money automatically shuts down interest in common cause. The Jan 2006 WSJ article on perp trusts was a major turning point in understanding cryonics for me, in thsi regard. High net worth cryos have ALL-- to the man-- rerouted their accumulation to a bizarre future rather than through the next generation of cryoncists.

It's as if money itself-- the possession of money-- automatically and inherently turns the accumulator of money against the common cause. In cryonics, this factor will lead to the failure of the cryonics mission in my view. It already has to a large extent I think. The only possibly way for the cryonics mission to success is for a re-education of man-- on whatever scale-- toward the Classical Humanist approarch-- which would filter down into various avenues in life. Until then, cryonics will be "for the rich"... with possible cryonics coverage for the average person if they're lucky.

The symbol of common cause for average cryonicists will be a real live-in colony for retired cryos, students and average workers and others--- a sort of Hotel Biostasis with long term residency possible. No cryonicist currenty in existence who has any wealth is interested in this. So it will remain a project for the cooperation of average cryonicists.
