I stopped observing the situation on 6-24-07 and started thinking about it again on 7-10-07. I might stop observing my thoughts on this at any time. It's pointless, really, for me-- a relative nobody with no net worth to speak of-- certainly no "disposable" income to speak of-- to be saying anything. I just find the situation bizarre enough in the general context of my overall monitering of the cryonics society and industry as it is-- since about 1978.

There are about a thousand people fully signed up for cryonics-- that are known about publicly-- and we're now in the "age of the blog"-- where anyone can basically publish ideas for free using this Google/blogger facility-- not to mention a wide variety of other internet tools-- the online tools-- going back to, say The Well, in the 1980's-- or Compuserve-- maybe 22 years. Does anything ever get resolved online through cryonicists' writing? I don't think so. It's as futile to write online about cryonics to solve problems as it is to "solve world hunger" or "stop war". The REAL action is ALWAYS behind the scenes. In everything.

The people in power who SHOULD be blogging are not. All my example setting is just that-- and example-- which never becomes a model for "them". People with financial means and power have one method for communicating-- Covert action. It appears to be an inherent characteristic of power and financial means. The rest of us find things out after the fact or get table scraps of information. Worse, we get deceptive information or are subjected to diversionary tactics by gatekeeps and other minions and dupes. The core truths are never openly revealed.

So why do I continue to blog on cryonics? And on the SA Inc situation? And who do I think reads this stuff? I don't know. I don't have the time anymore. And I don't think what I write helps anyone. It's about as useless and futile an activity as i can possibly imagine. So maybe I'll stop.

In the grand scheme of things, cryonics is an interesting idea-- if nothing else in terms of accomplishments. Backing up to see the forest from afar for a moment, we see the world-- and the short human lifespans-- the various "modern" attempts to stave off aging-- and increase our security-- as being of interest only to a tiny percentage of "us" humans. Backing up still further, I personally see things from a distance and an angle, Classical SuperHumanism not shared by anyone in cryonics and few in the world-at-large- and so it's "lonely out here in space"-- as Elton John sang in Rocket Man. Cognitive space can be just as lonely a place as Outer Space.

There's no point in looking at SA Inc or any other problem-set in the world or in cryonics without an agreed upon philosophical frame of reference. I guess the essential idea I'm focused on-- that if I write or blog at all-- I would "sell" to others who might read... and that is that there IS such a thing as "common interest" or "shared interests" that go beyond financial interests. I'm sorry to see that there is no writer in cryonics today who speaks for cryonics as a mission as a whole. Nobody other than me, for example, has attempted to make the important distinction between self-selected cryonauts and "unwitting" cryonauts-- or more generously "consenting" cryonauts-- whose consent might be questionable in the first place. And cryonics as a whole is, as I see it, a self-selected mission. So that tiny feature alone sets me apart-- in lonely cognitive space.

But that's okay. I'm used to exploring huge university library stacks alone-- holding important ideas close-- universal ideas that should be shared by humanity-- but that get trounced by popular culture and social norms. I guess the reason I write this blog then, is fundamentally to keep myself-- my own perception of reality in regards to cryonics-- alive. I blog-- therefore I am. CPlatt was right-- I DO write to myself. I think that that's the most powerful form of expression-- and when it's made public, the reader looks over the shoulder of the writer who may not, himself be standing on the shoulders of others-- but who doesn't mind others standing on his shoulder.

I believe I have valid points to make. Apart from keeping my unique cognition active and alive with respect to this subject area, I offer it publicly for over-the-shoulder viewing-- and humbly-- as a way to lift the vision of others on my shoulders-- as I stand on the shoulders of the Classical Humanists in history who have always been concerned with the common interests of mankind. So when we look at SA, for example, let's consider what the common interests of cryonics is that SA ostensibly is serving-- or whether there was never any real intent to serve the common interests of cryonics in the first place-- or t to serve the common interests of Alcor members-- by those two particular Alcor members.
