Harris on cooling rates again.

[+] Reading this, it's unclear to me whether cooling a cryonics patient too fast using lung lavage is potentially destructive or not. Maxim thinks it is and Harris seems to think it's not.

It's interesting that lung lavage has the potential to cool "too fast" in the first place. I'm not sure where the lung lavage idea originated. It's probably time to see someone do an overview that is generally readable-- Harris doesn't write for the uninitiated-- that's for sure. He'll be delivering a talk at the Alcor conference in October so that might be a good next point of reference. We might also get a final word on this from Maxim.

UPDATE-- Sure enough Maxim responds saying that it's not "scared perfusionists" who are concerned. [+]
