Nothing on Marce Johnson for summer 2007

News about marce johnson has gone completely dark in summer 2007. Here is a blog that followed her plight. [+]

In the absence of comments from people who SHOULD be commenting-- since Marce was the first cryonics "case" or in this case-- a "pre-case" of 2007-- I'll commnet. I'm a relative nobody in cryonics-- a non-person-- banned from all cryonics forums for experimenting with those communications systems-- to make them better-- but I'll comment anyway. Because maybe-- just maybe-- there are a few cryos out there who "get it"-- get what?-- get the notion that cryonics is for everyone-- not just the wealthy-- and that cryonics is something you choose for yourself-- not impose or "choose" via "consent" of someone else-- and most of all, get the idea that cryonics is an idea first-- and in the history of ideas-- must be associated with the best ideas in history-- and in this civilization-- that means reviewing the Renaissance and understanding that the Enlightenment was a rejection of the Renaissance-- that Cheney's finger on the nuclear launch button in August isnt' acceptable-- that 9/11 was an inside job-- that Zionism has to be dealt with... that this entire "Truman" era has shortchanged all of us who were looking forward to the future-- that we're mired in the muck of the oligarchic past-- etc. Cryonics is part of the world-- as is everything-- and that cryonics, as an attempt to stave off death-- is one area where is perfectly okay-- more than okay-- required-- to take the world into account.

What was or is the upshot of Marce Johnson? I say it's "late life planning" or "end of life planning". Let's call it "late life planning" rather than "end of life planning" since in cryonics, we don't really think of ourselves as being at the "end of life" neccessarily-- and most people rail against the thought of the end of their life anyway. Late life planning could be considered a euphemism for "you're going to dead, you fool".

In light of the upshot of Marce's plight-- let's look at late life planning. I myself am considering a "living trust". There's not much at Alcor's site on "living trust". [+] so Alcor can hardly be regarded as a "late life planning organization"-- but it should be-- rather than a so-called "life extension foundation" which it clearly is not. The cryonauts don't talk much. It wasn't much of an extended life for them was it? i want to know who changed the name from the original "hypothermic Socieity". Post your answer in this blog. That's what blogs are for.

Another late-life planning element besides having a "living trust" -- which is better than a plain old will because wills get contested and probated-- whereas living trusts do not-- is the element of long term care. If you turn into a basket case mentally or physically, good government based on General Welfare and Common Good as is embedded in the longiest living consititution on Earth, the USA constitution-- should accomodate that. But due to the City of London machinations and subversion of the true USA-- the long term care situation is itself a basket case. We're on our own. Cryonicists for the most part just seem to LOVE the idea of 'every man for himself" and "live and let die".

Here's a piece I just found where we see a review of the mismanagement of wills of famous people. We see that not updating a will can lead to big problems....

"A loved one dying without an updated will often results in an extended, expensive, and time consuming trip to the appropriate state’s probate court. Although the Commonwealth of Massachusetts does have laws that provide guidelines for matters such as omitted spouses and children in a will, the testator may have intended a very different distribution of assets."[+]

Given the Marce Johnson situation, we would wonder what Marce's will said-- with respect to her care. We COULD ask those questions-- and get answers and discussion going-- but people like RPancake and everyone at Alcor think that blackboxing the problems of Marce are justified since it's all "personal". Welll my view is personal SCHMERSONAL. There IS no "personal" off-limits information in a general situation like this where the cryonics situation calls for an ANAYLSYS of a CASE STUDY. This is where I would CHANGE EVERYTHING in cryonics. We cannot study cryonics when we're surround by people who think that everything is PERSONAL. That's rediculous. Marce Johnson- for anyone interesting in knowing-- got hit with Alzheimers and is in a dying process in a care home, a hospice, in Californai, her cryonics insurance money having been eaten through by care costs-- her cryonics policy having been screwed with during the time the UNBUNDLERS in cryonics led by Saul Kent effeectly SPLIT Alcor in 1994... Marce having followed that out-- and having never made it back to the home organizaiton.

Private information indeed. It's certainly private when you're being screwed. And left for dead. Yeah-- that's best left private.... so that the screwers can get away with the screwing.

The same article above discusses TW.... another cryonics "private" (screw you) situation that I personally uncovered details of while sitting in on alcor board meetings where everyone was afraid to talk candidly, making indirect references to things, but which indirect references I was able to interpret. I don't go to stupid board meetings like that anymore-- because even though they're open to the public, when the shit is potentially going to hit a fan blade, everyone ducks and treats you like an idiot. Besides I hear that there are insider board meetings-- that occur in addition to public board meetings-- it all depends on how many board members show up-- I'm sure the science of this is all worked out to enable the continued black boxing of real cryonics issues at Alcor. Here's the blurb on TW....

"Consider the unpleasant dispute among Ted Williams’ children regarding his remains.

The family feud over Williams’ body commenced when his will showed that he wanted to be cremated, but the executor of his estate said that the former Boston Red Sox star later decided to be cryogenically frozen. The will read in part that he wanted his ashes “sprinkled at sea off the coast of Florida where the water is very deep.” However, the executor filed a petition asking the judge that Williams’ body remain in a cryonics lab in Arizona per Williams’ wishes. The only publicly known documentation that suggests Williams wanted to be cryogenically preserved is a piece of scrap paper stained with motor oil, executed while Williams was hospitalized.

The fact is, although Williams’ will states that he wished to be cremated, nobody really knows what he wanted. Williams did have a will, but, as is often the case, it was written more than fives years prior to his death. Many cryonics services were not even available then. The lesson learned is that it pays to review your will and funeral wishes on a regular basis."

yeah right. TW, in my view, did NOT want cryonics-- he had never written anything in the field of cryonics yet WROTE THE BOOK-- The Science of Hitting... so he was not inexpereinced at writing. And in cryonics, we always specify whether we're open to NEURO preservation-- or not-- and TW's oil stained note didn't specify that. Anyone who REALLY wanted cryonics would have specified neuro or not. TW's fake note (signed the way he signs autographs, not his legal docs) didn't even specify that. That's why I surmise that the oil stained note was fake.

Despite the fake oil stained note, and the rediculous-- to me-- effort of then president of Alcor Lemler to acquire TW-- (why would he do that-- that's still a paradox-- because if it was private, there would be no publicity-- which was why Lemler was interested-- or was the reason Lemler was interested was flow of funds from the estate-- which continue to this day-- making this "last minute case"-- very "lucrative"?-- aha that's it isnt' it???-- Alcor's book keeping systems were changed shortly after the TW sitation-- and I haven't studied them-- but the Cryonics magazine financial statements are not detailed enough to understand what's going on here.... still it's a lead that some 18-35 year old cryonicist should investigate further-- anyone over 35 in cryonics is probably embedded in the current go-along-to-get-along cultish scheme-- afraid to say anything for fear of getting a bad suspension-- cryoncis being one of those areas where criticism can be forced into abeyance via veiled threats from unknown anonymous sources. What a racket! And yet I remain signed up-- because the idea makes sense-- despite the way cryonics is being conducted by current conductees.

Upshot-- living will. Long term care.
